Vice-President and Treasurer of the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT), Dr. Edith M. Szivas will serve as Chair of the Jury for IGCAT’s Top Foodie Websites Award 2026.
An internationally recognised tourism development expert and strategic advisor, Dr. Szivas brings to the jury extensive experience in sustainable tourism planning, gastronomy-led development, heritage conservation, and capacity building. Her work bridges policy and practice, shaping strategies that integrate cultural identity, responsible tourism, and long-term economic resilience.
Throughout her career, she has led projects for major international organisations including the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Asian Development Bank. She continues to advise Ministries, destinations, and private sector companies worldwide, fostering approaches that balance profitability with environmental, social, and cultural sustainability.
Holding an MSc in Tourism Planning and Development and a PhD in Tourism Policy from the University of Surrey (UK), Dr. Szivas combines academic expertise with global field experience across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. As Chair of the Jury, she brings strategic insight into how digital platforms can strengthen regional food identities, credibility, and sustainable destination development.
