Founder and CEO of Chowberry Inc, and an IGCAT expert from Nigeria, Oscar Ekponimo will join the jury of IGCAT’s Top Foodie Websites Award 2026.
Recognized by Time Magazine as one of the “10 Next Generation Leaders”, Oscar is an entrepreneur and technology innovator focused on addressing food insecurity through scalable, impact-driven solutions. He founded Chowberry Inc, a technology-driven social enterprise in Africa committed to improving food access for vulnerable communities. Through strategic partnerships with food system actors and major food brands, his platform has enabled the redistribution of more than 1.6 million meals from food at risk of waste to families experiencing hunger.
With a background in software engineering, product innovation, and startup development, Oscar combines digital expertise with social entrepreneurship. He established Gallery of Code, multidisciplinary research and innovation institution exploring the intersection of art, science, and technology. With a focus on culture, and collaborative models that connect artists, researchers, and technologists across Africa and Europe. He leads international residencies, public prand research initiatives that position artistic practice as a catalyst for responsible and inclusive technological futures.
His work has received international recognition, including the Rolex Award for Enterprise as a Rolex Laureate, the UN/ITU Young Innovators Award, and selection among the Top 10 Creative Entrepreneurs of 2022 by 50Next at the Basque Culinary Centre. As a jury member, he brings insight into how digital platforms, innovation, and responsible technology can contribute to strengthening food systems and driving meaningful social impact.
